Nature Walks

Writer: Vidhi AggarwalVidhi Aggarwal

I fancy having me-time. Me-time with nature even more. It is better than talking to myself. Everything in nature – the trees, the rocks, the rivers, the birds, the animals talk in a language I don't need to learn.

The mountains stand here, tall and majestic. Telling me stories of the epochs that they have seen. Like grandparents. When I sit down on any of their rocks and look around, they show me so many things– some things bare, some covered in their layers – leave it to me to make sense of them and figure them out –like inviting me to unravel their mysteries.

I wonder who all have walked here before me. Who created these roads in this terrain, who has put these power lines, who created these roads that I can walk on now and see these views. How difficult would it have been! And how in the world did they do it? How this place came to be the way I see it now.

I see, Trees and plants and flowers– varied in colours, sizes and types. Some thorny, some soft. All attractive. They seem to be shining it on me how everything and everyone is beautiful in their own unique ways.

Animals and birds – whose voices I can hear though not spot most of them – their voices feel welcome unlike our music that however good, mostly feels like noise to me.

Cars and trucks that pass by every few minutes – and every time one passes, it forces down a puff of diesel fumes into me. I block my nose and try not to inhale for a few seconds before the smell fades away. Leaving me to wonder how much harm have we done! And are doing every passing minute! Then I see the faces of people traveling inside them, some to work, some just to see this place just like me. I know it is not possible to walk up here. So I just wish for stronger and cheeper Electric Vehicles.

Carpeted Tracks - The leaves of trees in mountains are reduced to needles. And on the sides of roads, the dried leaves from these trees have formed a carpet like path. They looked spiky but surprisingly their thick layer was a cushion. Walking on them is a different pleasant experience. Just like a different experience that is of walking on soft mud after a drizzle, or cool stones in blazing sun.

I like walking barefoot on all natural trails. Of stones, of mud.. This one is carpeted. Like special treatment.

Just breathing in and out in this serene and natural place clears my mind. Takes away my negativity and fills me up with all the positive feelings –

– These elements are so powerful and huge, have been here for ages and still so down to earth literally – hence humility

I got a chance to sit here and talk to them. When my life comes to a close I will be one with them. – hence pride, gratitude.

– I want to be a part of their stories that they mysteriously tell too. For what I do while I am alive – hence ambition

There are a few lines to describe this divine experience –

Dikhaayi bhi jo naa de, nazar bhi jo aa raha hai..

Wohi khuda hai.. Wohi khuda hai! -:)
